What wood are your products made from?
All of our products are hand-crafted from the finest European redwood. This slow-grown timber is very stable (resistant to movement and twisting) and absorbs oils and stains beautifully, ensuring long-lasting performance and a premium finish.
Do you use wood from sustainable sources?
The timber we use is Forest Stewardship Council (FSC®) Certified, who are committed to sourcing wood/timber products from legitimate and legal suppliers.
What is a Framed Ledged & Braced (FLB) door?
The frame forms the sturdy border that holds the door’s shape. The ledges (horizontal boards) tie the vertical planks together. The braces (diagonal supports) prevent sagging by transferring weight back toward the hinges. This classic construction makes FLB doors robust, durable, and perfect for traditional or rustic settings such as cottages, barns, and garden gates.
Can I trim the FLB door?
Yes, you can take a maximum of 12mm from each side.
What is the average weight of 915 FLB door?
Approximately 25kg.
What is a Ledged & Braced (LB) door?
This door is built from vertical planks supported by horizontal ledges and diagonal braces for stability. This classic design is perfect for interior or light externa l use, offering a strong yet straightforward construction with a traditional appearance.
Can I trim the LB door?
Yes, you can take a maximum of 10mm from each side.
What is the average weight of 915 LB door?
Approximately 15kg.
What treatments can I use on the timber?
We recommend a wood preserver such as Bird Brand Complete Wood Protector which is available from our stockists in a variety of colours, from clear to dark.
Can I paint over tanalised timber?
You must let the timber dry first, then apply primer and undercoat ready for painting.
Do you supply door/gate furniture?
Door or gate furniture is not included – these can be purchased directly from our stockists’ stores, or you can order them online at their website.
Do you provide a fitting service for your doors and gates?
While we don’t provide a fitting service, our doors are designed to make installation straightforward, and we’re happy to offer advice or connect you with recommended installers.
Are your products available to buy in-store?
All our stockists have our standard size doors and gates which you can view in-store (our current stockists can be found here).
